You pay any amount you want, pilgrim keeps him from killing you by life linking so you basically infinitize your life and annihilate something you hit with the hellion

But you gain the same amount you pay, bringing you back to your beginning life total? Im confused.

Blast BOTH yourself and the target for a billion. Hellion did 2 billion total, so you gain 2 billion, but you did take 1 billion, so your life is your original life plus a billion. Make more sense?
