honestly think that unglued foils are a good comparison. The demand is about the same... the people who swag out will want to get them, only issue is that the unglued lands are in 5 colors and wastes is mono. It becomes a question of do the 5 colors even out the demand for the 1 relatively low played ones. The other thing to think about is that literally EVERY other foil {tectonic edge} or any other colorless producing land can be substituted in decks, so who knows.... hmmmmm...
Not everything can replace wastes in a deck. Keep in mind, wastes is a basic land and therefore can be fetched with say, evolving wilds or any basic land fetch card.

The utility offered by all the non basic colorless lands is light years better than being able to fetch basics.

Wastes being fetch able is cool, but not great.  Adding Wastes to Kozilek because I love the way they look and I'm not running all of the good utility lands.

I think it's worth it so you can run {Solemn Simulacrum} in colorless decks and get both ends of the value.

I believe it's a sideboard card for Tron to combat LD. I honestly am not sure though. It's really good in EDH with Land based LD?
