I hear more and more "common" folk that think like that. I feel it's gonna go to a point where list prices become unreliable because of random spikes, like {mana tithe}. Situational counter in {W}, yeah that's rare (not many cards can do that kinda rare), but still. If you want counters splash {U}..

It has been in very low supply for a long time. It spiked to 5$ not that long ago and fell, so more likely this was an individual buying up copies. I'm not even sure the real demand of a card like this, but considering the art I get it.
There might be some copies still in stock - I just ordered 3 this morning for under 6$ total.

This buyout doesn't bother me. It's a common that you can still get for $.10 if you're okay with the "poor version". The buyouts that bother me are where there is only one or two printings and if you want to play the deck you have to pay the price... Like Cunning wish or force of will or arcbound ravager... Where there is no alternative.
