What do you guys think about {monastery mentor}? Is that going to hold its value for a while? I just bought three, then of course opened a pack with one (that happens to me a lot...), without really looking at the trend, which seems to be a very slow decline. Maybe bottom out at 18? I mean, it's a damn great card, it won't plummet right?

It is seeing modern play. But being one if its advocates and only running two I just can't see it holding that much value. If I had to guess it'll end up between $10-$15.

Disclaimer: this is my first prediction and technically it sees fringe play. So it could go lower.

The problem with him is the decks that want him can't play him because he costs 3. And he doesn't really do anything until 2 turns later when the dudes can attack. 2 turns is a long time in burn.

Jeskai Counterburn is where he fits best. You have the control aspects to allow you to buy the turns, then he either floods the board and wins you the game or buys you time to draw the next set of answers. I think I currently run a 3/2 split with {Young Pyromancer}. Pyro being the three.

Yes, sometime {Abrupt Decay} or something kills him but that's a risk with all creatures. Dies to {Doomblade} isn't always relevant. Especially when it's you get a 1/1 prowess token for countering {Doomblade}.

So I probably wasted some money...oh well. I'm running them in a mardu token, and with 4 {valorous stance}, he's been hanging around enough to fulfill his purpose and wreak havoc. Finally a consistent deck I've built!!!

For the record this is the only good thing about tiny commanders ever. I collected toshiro like Llama did to sables. I got about 20 foils, and I'm now going to get a ps4
