I'm sure it's been asked a bunch in this thread, but when's the best time to get fetch lands? I'm probably going to try to get a playset of each but I was hoping to just keep them from my drafts and not have to trade too much.

I just don't know if it's time to start collecting yet or if I should wait until later in the format.

It depends on how many fetches are in Fate Reforged. If the print run is tiny like DGM (where shocks were as common as unicorns), then it shouldn't impact the price, but if they are more common and FRF is good, they could still come down. If you can get fetches in the $8-12 range ever, consider it a good deal, in a few years they could be worth $20-30

All I know is fetches seem to be a gaining value
{flooded strand}

WTF bro you were $12

Someone is trying to raise prices with a buy-out. Either that or people are specking on that new {Soulfire Master} or whatever.

MuggyWuggy

Flooded has been at $18 for the last month air seems

It has been slowly climbing ever since Nov 10: http://mtgstocks.com/cards/25599

It is the only one acting strangely, the rest have pretty much bottomed out.

I feel like windswept has risen a lil bit also

I'm not getting them, I'm just keeping them from drafts. The question is whether to trade them for other things or not.

Let's talk about lands:

Temples: These really don't matter either, they saw about a minute of play in modern in a weird combo deck, but it never gained ground so the only real application is EDH. Basically get rid of them between now and rotation (but I don't recommend waiting until the last minute), and if you want them for EDH, I recommend grabbing them at $0.50-2 after rotation, because standard players will be dumping them. One that I do recommend picking up is {Temple of Mystery}, especially the promos because UG is extremely playable in EDH, promos have a much smaller print run, and they are at about $1.50 mid right now.

Painlands: They really don't matter that much, they don't see play outside of standard except for some combo lists in Modern and EDH. Because of this, I recommend ditching them between now and April (or May/June), and if you like having lands sitting around for EDH or just for ease of mind, picking them up after rotation. Of course this could all change if they are reprinted in the core set, and random ones might spike depending on cards (for example if all of the sudden {Yavimaya Coast} starts seeing a lot of play). {Shivan Reef} is really the only one that is or has ever been worth anything, but will probably still bottom out around $3-4, {Llanowar Wastes} also has the potential to retain a value of $2-3 because of fringe play in decks like Infect, but the rest could easily hit $0.50-1.

How do you all feel about this? I am way off, do you have any other recommendations?

LinkCelestrial

Just recently played vs Tron with Ugin in it. He was insane, Ults in two turns and can pick off most of the things that'd be trying to kill him. I was very impressed and very dead, that ult is insane and he managed to do it three times in one game. (Because I decided not to scoop even though I was doomed just to see.) He actually ran a 2/2 split with Karn. Side by side those guys are dangerous. It was R/G Tron, if that changes anything. I know he won't be as expensive as he is right at pre-release, but I expect him to retain value better than {Garruk, Apex Predator} did. I could be wrong. I do hope I manage to snag a few copies. :D

{Eidolon of the Great Revel} is quite low right now, as is {Snapcaster Mage}, if TC gets banned, his price will probably go back up to around $40, and won't come down until Modern Masters 2016 or some other reprint.

Don't you mean MM2017? I see snappy going up steadily until he's reprinted, but Wotc could easily put him in a big set in a year or two instead of MM3.

Also {Beacon of Tomorrows} was bought out, likely due to Narset EDH decks

We don't know if MM is yearly or bi-yearly yet. I can't see Snappy in a standard legal set for a while unless his price goes crazy, because he requires the set have flashback. It would be easy to cram flashback into a core set (only one left, but it might happen), but not so easy to jam it into a block. Overall, I think you get him soon or you are better off waiting until a reprint.

True flashback is a barrier, he could easily go in some random modern event deck, the next MM is probably the most likely place. I just don't see him dropping too much if he goes in MM3. I feel Modern Masters will at best be bi-yearly, there are plenty of sets to cover and cards to include but Wotc is very cautious how they reprint things...
