Think of it this way:
Dual lands were about $20 20 years ago.

20 years ago ppl didn't hoard ABUR duals plus that was very limited in run
You have no idea how the game will evolve and change in 20 years.

True but ABUR are restricted whereas Shocks will be reprinted a lot I feel

MuggyWuggy

It took nearly 5 years to reprint them. I also feel the game could slow down even more or a new type of play IE classic modern/modern

What if they announce shocks will be reserved in 3 years? They will shoot up in price as staples for legacy and modern.

Also, people sell, lose, throw away collections as they get older, so items will be scarcer if not reprinted.

Mattao19

Shocks will never be on the reserved list bc there will never be another reserved list. Wizards admits it was a mistake and they won't make it again. And although it's true 5 years to reprint but you saw what happened to fetches wizards responded immediately (in a way :P)

MuggyWuggy

Pretty sure sliver queen went on the reserve list recently. I'm just saying, be open to possibilities.

imthelolrus

I think queen has always been on the reserved list. I don't know if wizards responded "quickly" to reprint fetches, I remember lots of players groaning at the prices for awhile. It takes time, both for Wotc to reprint/react to the market and for card prices to change. So much RTR was opened and while shocks are used a lot it will take at least a year or two before we see some changes IMO.

Obviously a good sign shocks didnt really dip post rotation. Doesn't mean they're really going anywhere for awhile either though.

Also related: With BGx decks less popular {Tarmogoyf} prices have seemed to soften.

I have friends that played back in the day and when they would open duals, those were the junk rares. "Aww man, who even plays two colors!?"

But now every single magic player is after that outcome, horde this because it might be worth something, horde that, etc.

I played mono-black but used duals to be different. Had plenty of all of them.

Sold the lot for $150 in 1995. Sigh.

MuggyWuggy

Magic back in the day was focus on primary colors as most of the multicolor cards just sucked.

{Library of Alexandria} up a bit, SCG raised their buylist on it to 250.

When is the best time to grab {Eidolon of the Great Revel}? Is it one of those cards that will dip around rotation and then launch a few months after, or is all up from here out?
