Keep in mind that many of the modern staples are also used in legacy, such as fetches, bob, goyf and others. So while the prices might be spiking a bit now because of the beginning of the "season" and might fall a bit shortly after the end they'll by no means plummet simply because they are good cards used in many other formats or are just sought after in general.

Depending on what decks do really good this Pro Tour, some may actually gain permanent increases after the season is over. They more than likely will not stay where they are now, but they might not be as low as they were previously. As for acquiring Bobs right now Test, unless you plan on playing some GPs, I'd say just hold off until the season passes.

I honestly don't see Bob, goyf, Lilly, Cryptic, cliques, fetches, snaps et al. to significantly drop after modern season ends. Prices are all over the place right now because of the un/bannings in addition to modern season so I agree buying now isn't wise. However, unless they announce a reprint we probably won't see much of a drop in modern/legacy staples.
