What are the chances that Nykthos, Shrine of Nyx actually sees eternal format play? I know that many eternal format decks use 2-4 colors but this land has some great potential for a mono-color deck.

Elf Storm will probably play a few copies of it.

It's a cool land, but you have to have devotion of four to actually net any mana profit. Maybe that won't be a big deal, though it might limit eternal format play.

its a land that encourages mono colored decks. It will go best in mono-green ({kalonian tusker}, {leatherback baloth}, many others...yikes!)

Yeah, that's why I am asking, because it is so iffy. It is a risk but in a lot of green decks (especially Elves, as was pointed out) it could produce massive amounts of mana. Imagine a bunch of mana dorks leading to a {Khalni Hydra} to, whatever you want.

T3-Forest, Tap 3 forest, Arbor and Archdruid for 3, two green creatures: cast {Khalni Hydra}

Without a full spoiler this question can't be answered. We can easily speculate about what will likely see play but you wont be able to preorder those cards any cheaper than their end price.
