Also will {Pain Seer} ever go up?
I don't think so. Its terrible and everyone who does want one will want the game day full art foil, not a normal one.

I agree with this, untap bob = not so good

In other news {thundermaw hellkite} is rising
My guess is that it is because of {Bitterblossom} in modern.

Wow, didn't notice that! Awesome! Guess it has to come out of the casual norin deck and go into the trade binder now :)

Maybe I'm just spitballing, but it seems like unless an amazing combo shows up in Standard, he won't reach disproportionate levels like, say, {Temporal Mastery} when it broke $30 (why didn't I trade it then?).

Honestly I'm surprised he wasn't hyped up the way that one was. "Bob II," "Time Walk II."
We will to wait until the next set spoils and m15 spoils. Then he shoots up crazy. Look at pack rat and DD...

I have him in my mono black devotion deck and he gives me so much card advantage!  I love him to death.  And unlike bob, he won't bob me to death unless I let him.  He's so good!

But I do agree that everyone will only want the game day version.  I want a playset of that as soon as I can.
He is too situational to ever be worth anything. He has to attack or tap in some fashion and ten untapped to let you draw. Bob just works...

Pain Seer is too weak that he must tap. You don't attack with bob so he doesn't worry about untapping. I can see how he can be used but he won't ever be competitively to make him worth value.

My deck says otherwise.  He attacks and survives all the time.  He's small enough that they are more concerned about my big dudes late game, and early game they don't want to trade their 2 mystics or whatever.  And {spring leaf drum} helps.  Don't judge him until you play him in the right deck.
He's no Bob, not even close.

DirtyMustachio

Speculation is fine, if {pain seer} wins in decks he'll go up

I play mono black. Maybe in standard you could get away with playing him somewhat. Not outside of that. You can't waste a slot for the drum and if you play anyone with some sense they won't let the seer live to let you draw if you attack with him.

I'm not saying he's unplayable just that he's not that good in any format that bob says otherwise.

When someone says competitive, I automatically assume they mean a mtg top 8 deck, not you winning your FNM... Because your FNM results don't dictate price changes... Like it has been said before, weaker than bob, people will always want the game day version and if a winning deck plays him at pro level expect him to go up, other than that I don't see him moving much.

{Cryptic Command} is out of control! Too bad I had just traded one away for $25 before the skyrocket. :-(

Mattao19

Ok back to prices lol

Will the modern staples ever drop?

Also are any BNG cards going to be played in Modern?

Lastly are there any new decks that one should be aware about? Bc I wanna buy the cards before they shoot up in price

MuggyWuggy

They will drop after season is over.

MuggyWuggy

I don't think they will plummet but they will drop a bit after the pro tours are done.

People will still keep playing modern, but those who put together decks for the season will most likely scrap the decks that doesn't get them past a few rounds

You have to be open to the possible percentage of netdeckers

I'm sure cryptic command going up has something to do with bitterblossom being unbanned as now more people are going back to faeries.

I pulled a tarm last year and it went as low as 115, never got any decent offers on it, someone said "hold onto it until modern pts start" tried to hold onto until theros came out and I traded it for a box. He was still 115 on average then. He's up to 150 right now and that's primarily due to modern. He's probably also pimping hard again due to deathrite being banned.

He'll drop again though unless he becomes reserved.

So does this mean Bob, Tarms, Shocks, and Fetches are going to plummet in value before long? I've been working hard to acquire Bobs and now I'm wondering if I should refrain from buying him till he drops in value.
They fluctuate, but they don't plummet. They increase a little now and then will drop during the summer, but will go up again next year. The only thing is, they generally don't drop all the way back down to where they were. For example, a card may go from $30 to $45 during the modern season, but when it drops after the season is over it will only drop to about $35-$40.
