It's a mana dork with exalted!  That's awesome!  Immediately you're swinging in for 2 unblock able infect. Infect is quick and each little boost helps. On top of that, you can tap the hierarch for another pump spell. Is great.
I see the point of it but I think the slot is better suited to something that will help you win faster. Infect you have to win in the first couple of turns generally. The hierarch stalls you IMO when I could have already won.

Oh, I totally see where you're coming from. I think it is a bit of "to each his own" in this situation. Both ways are going to secure a win. I don't feel like shelling out the cash to test which is faster though haha.

Alright, where are Shocks: a month before rotation, a month after rotation and a year after they rotate?
Where are scry lands going, and...
what's up with {Deathrite Shaman}? Is he going to travel the path of {Noble Hierarch} and end up at $25

Reprinting shocks damaged their high value beyond repair (which in my opinion is VERY good). I don't think we'll see them above 25 ever again, if even that.

On deathrite: {Noble Hirearch} is a prime example of why deathrite will be 50 or more. Noble can tap for mana and add 1 power to something. That's it. Deathrite can tap for two more colors than noble, it can get rid of your opponent's lands ({Knight of the Reliquary}, you stay within {Lightning Bolt} range forever!), it stops persist, stops {Snapcaster Mage}, it can gain you 2 life per tap, and it can make your opponent lose 2 life. Arguments...?

The biggest argument against Deathrite being more than Hierarch is that it was in the most-printed set in magic history, there's no reason for it to go up beyond $30ish before it gets reprinted in something (Modern Masters 2 or 3, who knows).

My biggest issue with the hype over Deathrite is that it's mostly self-serving demand. Almost all of the people trying to get Deathrite already have 4, they're just speculating. It would follow that any big price increase would pull all of those people out of the woodwork to try and cash out, driving the price right back down.

Everyone thinking that they're somehow playing the market by all doing the same thing with one card makes little sense to me...

What the heck {Desecration Demon}? I love it =]

LordJanova

I'm guessing I should probably start picking up some deathrite shamans. As of now I have none.

He is where he should be.  ;)
For now. I cant see {jace, architect of thought} or the demon holding high as we get access to other options.

I dunno, a 6/6 for 4 is already awesome, and even thought they can tap him, they, unless they're running tokens, probably run out of critters, especially if you have 4 on the field, and you can swing for an unthinkably high amount sometimes. My Grixis FNM player does it to everyone :P
