Prevent all combat damage done to creatures you control this turn.  You may divide that damage among any number of creatures your opponent controls.  You lose life equal to that amount of damage.  Life lost this way cannot be prevented or redirected.

I need some serious help modifying the wording of this mechanic. The premise is:

TYPEcluster (If you control at least X other TYPE creature(s), CARDNAME gets ABILITY)

It's pretty simple, but the wording is killing me. Here's some examples.

Awesome mechanic! Great design, im really impressed. I can see two good ways to fix the wording.

1: simplify it to "Cluster" (or whatever name you want for the ability) and then put a value behind it.

Cluster 3 - as long as you control at least 3 creatures that share a creature type with this creature then <insert ability here>

2: make the number universal like metalcraft is always 3.

Dragon Cluster - as long as you control 2 other dragon creatures then this creature has <insert ability>

When you play this spell. You may also put a copy of target ability with "enters the battlefield" on the stack.

If you were to design this. How would you fix it's problems?

First off, thanks so much for the praise! I was going for a very simple mechanic that would be included in a yearly set (M12, M13, ect). Secondly, your first suggestion is the answer I needed. It's perfect for new players to understand, and great for experienced players to work around!

Cluster could become an interesting playstyle.  Next set is most likely a tribal set that is one a new plane, so (although it will not happen) this would be cool in that set.  While we are on the subject, what is Rosewater's e-mail?  I want to tell him about this! (with you taking credit for the idea of course.) even though he won't answer me. :)

I kinda want to make a mechanic too.

Probably something like... Reveal and exile X number of cards from your hand and for each card exiled this way search your library for a card that is the same type as that card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. (Ex. Sorcery for sorcery, creature for creature, land for land). Shuffle the exiled cards into your library.
