By iMtG Law and the fact that I'm the owner of this place, I make the following rules a commentary to iMtG Law for purposes of posting in Rules, as long as the Last Edit is done by me, Piotr.

1.0 - GENERAL RULES FOR POSTING

Follow Forum Law. Logic is the ultimate law. Do not do to others what they would not want to be done to them, or you will be punished. That is the entire iMtG Law; it cannot be changed, all the rest is commentary. Do not lie. Do not steal. Do not murder. No victim, no crime. Agreements must be kept.

Use Card Tags. When asking about a specific card, use this card's name as topic of your thread.

Search for answers. Before asking a question, please check whether your question has been asked recently. iMtG has a convenient search function built into it. Take advantage please.

Know the Basics. If you enjoy this game, do yourself a favor and spend a couple of minutes getting to know your game better. We find that many new questions could be answered by the basic rule book.

Questions are always welcome here, but you can become a better player if you learn how to look for answers for yourself.

Limit "Multiple" Question Threads. Anthology threads of several different questions are tricky because you can't give the thread a significant title, follow-up discussions are hard to keep up with if the thread jumps back and forth between several topics. Also, a members question might be answered in that thread and lead to needless repeat posting. As a result, we prefer that each thread contain only one card, or 1 set of card interactions. If you have multiple questions after your latest FNM, don't feel afraid to ask, just put them in separate posts please.

2.0 - RULES FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS

Explain your answer. When users have questions they need answered, it's always best to come up with an concrete explanation. Rules text are not the rules, it's always best to quote the Comprehensive Rules. These resolutions tend to carry more weight when they're explained properly.

Limit Guessing. If you're not sure of your answer, please don't post. Check the Comprehensive Rules or other resources to be sure, or leave the question to someone who is sure. Nothing is wrong about trying to help, but guessing can be misleading to new players.

Limit nitpicking. Everyone should strive to give straightforward answers to specific rules questions, and answers only need to be correct in the context of the question they're answering. Posting to point out that the answer can change in narrow circumstances (like what would happen if a card not being discussed was added) discourages people from giving straightforward answers, which does a disservice to everyone.

Example: When somebody asks: "Galvanic Alchemist paired with an animated Azorius Keyrune. Will they remain paired at the end of my turn?", it is fine to answer "No. The Azorius Keyrune will revert to being an artifact and will detach from the Galvanic Alchemist. But you could always re-pair it later." Pointing out that "Soulbonded creatures aren't attached to one another. Creatures can't be attached to anything." serves absolutely no purpose and is counter productive.
