Least favorite character in Until Dawn (spoilers)

This has turned into sort of a rant of mine so beware.

WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE EMILY?!  Sure she can be a huge bitch, but at the same time, I don't mind her being a bitch.  Even though I always think you should be nice to people, and she does the opposite of that, Emily is one of the most ambitious characters.  She fought for her life (not as much as say Jess (also Jesus did she get torn up) but during her chase sequence she goes through a lot of .poo. to only get away with a bite.).  I always saw her as a character that knew what she wanted, and she went for it.  She knew that she was mean and didn't hide it, and she is actually one of my favorite characters in the game.  She grew overtime in her story as well, and she's just a good character (sorta)
ASHLEY on the other hand is a nice character at the start of the game.  One who I was really rooting for, and I really wanted her and Chris together.  And then she started going through the trials, and I started to kinda see more of who she was.  Ashley had a tendacy to get her friends killed, most likely because of her.  In the first psycho trial, what does she do?  Tell Chris to kill Josh.  Which I was willing to overlook, I mean both of them are saying to kill the other, not to mention I thought there was something off about Josh (also love his character, and his fate saddened me), so I let that one slide.  And then in the second trial she said, "shoot me, if I want to do anything for you, it is to give you life, you saved me once, now I will save you." Or something to that extent, after you have already pointed it at yourself.  If you choose to point it at her after she says that, or just point it at her to begin with, she will have different feelings towards you.  So different that if you are running from the wendigo later, SHE WONT OPEN THE .loving. DOOR!  OH IM SORRY, BUT YOU SAID THAT YOU WANTED TO GIVE YOUR LIFE FOR ME EARLIER, SO JUST BECAUSE I DID WHAT YOU SAID, YOU HATE ME AND KILL ME.  I haven't even GOTTEN to my third reason and I really don't like her all of a sudden.  If Emily gets bitten (and from what I know she will always get bitten I believe, but I'm not 100% sure on that) she will point out the bite mark Emily has.  And then when Matt goes all Alpha and says "get out this is a safe room, and it's not safe with you in it, get out or I'll shoot you" ASHLEY IS JUST EGGING MATT ON TO SHOOT HER.  I'm sorry but that is THREE separate occasions where she is trying to get another character killed.  How many does Emily have NONE, 0, zip, nada!  Ashley, after you (hopefully) don't shoot Emily, will check the book of wendigo facts and reads that bite's are not infectious.  Not to mention that stranger even tells them all that, "the wendigo curse is brought on by canibalism" and then she just turns on her friends in a split second.  She then, after saying sorry for egging someone on to kill Emily, proceeds to get bitch-slapped and rightfully so!  I have such a hard time justifying a positive reason for her character.

I agree with literally everything you've said. I dislike Emily because if you treat her well she is still bitchy, but if you make Matt (I always get Matt and Mike mixed up) be a jockey, douche to her she likes you more and isn't so bad. I don't "like" any of the characters, even though everyone immediately sides with Ashley because she's "innocent" and cute. Though I've seen three playthroughs from different people and like you said, Ashley just makes some very short sighted decisions and the characters, potentially, die because of it. I'm the black sheep though because I most dislike Sam. I dislike her the most because they literally just made the decision that she has one place in the game she can die at-- at the end of the game when the Wendigos are in the house. So basically she serves no purpose in a horror scene after you realize that she can't die until the end of the game. It took me out of it completely whenever a scene with Sam came in because I knew nothing would happen. Everyone else has many sections in the game that if you do the wrong thing-- whether you believe it to be wrong or not-- they die and you can't go back to save them. Well, unless you restart the game and play from the beginning.. But yeah. It makes no sense to have a character, that literally is around danger for over half of the game, not able to die until the end where it is obvious she would die if you failed a QTE or "hold still" bit.

I like the game. I think there should be more horror/suspense games like it because it wasn't all jumpscares and chase scenes. It was honestly petrifying to watch at times and the players choices held weight on the story and overall outcome of the game instead of a linear path or when you make a choice that is like "Go left or right. Oh, by the way.. Either you choose the character dies so we're just giving the illusion of choice." It was a very interesting game to watch, but I will never play it. I have enough anxiety problems as it is.

Ok so from a horror aspect of the game, Sam is a bad character.  With little choices of death along the way, she serves as the "main character" in a way, because of the she is almost unkillable.  In that aspect, she would've been my least favorite character.
However, she makes up for it with being all around likable, resourceful, witty, and just being one of the nicest people in the game.  Which in terms of niceness would be as follows.  Matt, Josh, Sam, Jess, Mike, Em, and then Ashley.  If she had say, Mike's character traits along with the lack of possible deaths, I would hate her sooooooo much.  However I like her character, so in my mind, she was pretty ok.

Too many words..
I personally didnt like chris all that much, just because of all the bullshit that he was playing, i mean, the chase through the basement was terrifying..

And the emily situation:
I liked her, she was ambitious, independent and she knew how to get what she wanted

Ashley:
Kindof a backstabbing bitch, but.... Who wouldnt in a time like that? Sure emily didnt have any times where she wanted someone to kill someone else, but was emily ever tied to a wall with a razor coming at her? Or tied to a chair with a gun pointed to her head.

Sam:
.love.ing champion...
She climbs a wall for like 30 mins twice, gets chased around (and survives) in a TOWEL!!! And she was the chillest out of all the characters (imo)

Mike:
I loved this dude.. He got his fingers cut off, and he ran through a building with windegos around (with missing fingers), and still kept his composure around josh I MEAN WHAT!!!! HOW CAN YOU GO THROUGH ALL THAT .poo. AND NOT SHOOT THAT TARD IN THE FACE!?!?!?

Matt:
Eh

Jess:
I kinda knew something was gonna happen to her at the start... I liked her less than emily

Ok, I forgot this about Mike, so let me say, I did not mind his character that much because of the reasons you gave.  But the main reason for me liking his character was Wolfie (not a canon name for his dog friend) because, befriending lovable animals is what my weakness is
