Title: Almond-cat speculations
Post by: redwolv on February 17, 2017, 01:33:44 PM
What is everyone hoping or thinking will be coming in the next set? I am hoping for some new gods to put in my tribal gods EDH deck.

That would be so amazing. I'm not sure how they'd do them thought without copying the mechanics of Theros Block. Something that could be kind of cool is if they have legendary creatures that flip (kind of like the flip walkers) into Egyptian themed gods. Probably super unlikely but still would be kind of cool, especially for edh. Also if they do being back gods we could be looking at a  {Deicide} reprint.

Non indestructible non enchantent gods

Just legendary creatures that are gods for the creature type

Example

Anubis, God of the afterlife
Legendary Creature - jackel god

Does something cool personally
Has a static effect while on battlefield

Has a special effect while in the grave (read about {Vengeful Pharaoh})
Agreed, I don't need or want copies just more God creatures. And while I liked the flavor of devotion they could use another system or just nothing at all but a high Cmc or something

See that's why I said flip gods like the flip walkers cause that's different then devotion and is thematic to Egyptian mythology (people being gods such as Ra). The legendary creature flips into the god.

Enemy fetches
That would do some major damage to everything. It would lower prices on the fetches drastically AND screw up standard by forcing fetches to be required again. Also, it would screw up frontier by introducing the full set of fetches further forcing fetches to be required in that format also.

Fetches in standard wasn't to bad at first, it became bad when BFZ block added fetchable duel lands. Heck mono-red burn was half a thing because everyone was playing with about 15 life after the first couple of turns

We already have 4 color decks

Maybe MM17 will kill all value along with almondcat if fetches are printed
