Edit: I made this post before op was eddited! ^^
What happened to Spikepit?
He got promoted.
Good on him!
To Boss, I guess.
Coffee Vampire has been promoted to a Local Moderator. Welcome aboard, CV!
Rasser has been promoted as a moderator of Trade. Welcome aboard, Rasser!
I also gave us cute new titles last night. Today I'm sober but I think we will keep them ;)

I'm afraid, yet oddly intrigued.
Welcome, Rasser and Kaleo!
Global Mod -> Elder, and so on.
I have resigned from my post due to time commitments. Thank you, everybody!
How does some one become a moderator? I also think there should be a rank or level of moderator called moderator in training. There could also be assistents in each forum section to help the moderator. I hope this helps, and maybe i can become one.
Help the moderator with what?
Answering questions, filtrating bad words, taming trolls
Every moderator has their own story.

Is there an administrator/mod whom specifically presides over the Trade section?
Rasser. Is there anything wrong with the Trade section?

No, nothing wrong with it, I was just wondering because if there are bad trades/rippers/general issues with trading there would have to be some kind of administrator to take care of the situation.
We have Report button for that. Moderators are helpful folks who animate this place, not police it. It is supposed to police itself with karma anyway.

Fair enough. Thanks for explaining, as always ;P
Glad to be of service, Boss ;)
BTW, someone who is claiming to be my Boss while obtaining the title via piracy or hacking is lying and thus is subject to punishment. Makes sense?

Yeah, they're subject to punishment if they are lying about that kind of thing. Considering that's how you make your money from this app, that's a really cheap and dirty thing to do.
Lol, sure :D
But that's not the point, right.

I think Spikepit should be taken off of the gone list.,,
I think he knows that ;)

I agree with this, and has been wondering this for a long time.
How to become a mod -> be helpful, considerate, positive to the forum. If and when we need more mods we will call you, we do pay attention. Good karma helps a little
Mods in training/section assistants -> no need to rank down our mods to trainees, although different responsibilities are issued to each one. We do have local and global mods though, with different sets of privileges. Those are the Hands (mods of one or more section) and Elders (global mods)
Know bosses and patrons, but what are "hands"?
Quote from: Mlerner12 on June 22, 2013, 08:10:41 PM
Know bosses and patrons, but what are "hands"?
Local mods. Hands have mod powers in one section of the forum. Elders are global mods, having mod powers in all sections of the forum.
Boss means someone who bought the "have it all" option in the app
Patron is someone who signs iMtG server
User is someone who is using the forum through the app
Member is someone who is using the forum through a browser (or old version of the app)
Now, if you click someone's profile, there may be a title there. Those are:
Adventurer -> beta tester (check my profile)
Hand -> local mod of one or more sections of the forum (check Xaol)
Elder -> Global forum mod (check Keyeto)
Owner -> Piotr (forum admin)
The titles above do not stack. If you have more than one, the highest one will be used. The order is:
Owner > Elder > Adventure > Hand
There may also be another title in the profile. These title can be:
Patron -> someone who pays the monthly iMtG server fee
Apprentice -> someone appointed by a Patron to share the benefits of being a patron
You cannot be a Apprentice and Patron at the same time
Also, on the default forum theme (the one loaded in app), when you check the active users list there is a color change between titles.
Grey -> non-mod
Green -> Hand
Blue -> Elder
Black -> Piotr
If some amazing person could format what I have just written and post it to the wiki, I would be grateful
You can be Adventurer and Patron at the same time, you will have all the powers which come with each title.
Adventurer is separate from the mods.
Yeah, you can have two titles, one of them being elder/hand/adventurer (though you can have the privilege of adventurer + hand/elder. If you do, the highest title will show. Elder > adventurer > hand)
The other title is patron/apprentice
Adventurer is separate from moderators. You are not a Hand, you have local moderator powers in Wiki.
I thought a Hand was someone who had local moderator powers? What is a Hand then?
And Dudecore is an Elder and a tester, and does not have Adventurer title, only Elder and Patron
New Hands must agree to obey iMtG Law in the real life, you have moderator powers from the past. If Dudecore wants the Adventurer title, I can't see a problem. It would be redundant as far as powers go.
I wear many hats, Elder and Patron are fine with me. Just happy to help out.

All the features you have to pay for. Boss is just somebody who "bought it all." To go main menu, and go to the Shop to see all the purchasable features.
So is it possible for just a normal citizen to become part of the council without making in app purchases? And if so, how does this happen?

But of course! I became a moderator before I made any purchases. Being part of the council isn't about filling Piotr's wallet ;)
When it comes to Mod selection, its really quite simple. Just be helpful, contribute to the community, and be a positive influence. Us mods will notice if anyone stands out, as will the community.
We held a "Moderator Search" a while back, but aside from that, there's no application or process to go through. Just go about your business on here, and if we think you would be a good Mod, you'll get a message from Piotr.
If you have any more questions, feel free to post (of course) or send me a pm.
Thanks for the info man! And if we feel like we could help the community out more as a mod than just a citizen, could we alarm the council ourselves?

Well, certainly! It's not something that normally happens, but if you feel like we're overlooking some potential mod talent, feel free to post or send one of us a pm.
As I said, its pretty easy to spot when people are being "exceptional" users. Answering rules, helping out newer members, giving good deck building advice, etc. Keeping mind though, there's no checklist to becoming a mod; its not something you achieve. It's moreso earned, and there are a decent amount of things to consider when choosing who to give Mod powers to.
Well, it's nice to know who runs things!

Eh not exactly true. I resigned yesterday morning. Hours later, I realized I still had my mod powers and then saw Piotr deleting people's threads and comments. He was breaking his own law, so I did the same to him fully aware that it would lead to a ban. Childish? Absolutely. I've always professed to being a five year old at heart.
This is mikefrompluto by the way. I have a sneaking suspicion that this account will be banned, so I will show myself out.
You did not act childish, you removed voice from a man who was being witch hunted and he was deleting insinuations that he was a pedofile. You are a grown man and were trusted with position of power, you stabbed me in the back and you have been punished with a permanent ban. You are not guilty now.

The only reason people kept going at it was because you kept deleting posts and didn't post the whole conversation, so "obviously" you were trying to hide it because it was "true". You kinda brought that upon yourself. Just like if someone runs as soon as the cops show up, it looks like he was doing something really wrong.
I know what's up now, so Don't think I'm trying to resurrect it, just that you brought it upon yourself.
If I did, so did AA: She was warned, decided to ignore my warning. She brought the 10 days ban upon herself.
If you must know, I deleted* these posts because I was scared. Perhaps you will be allowed to see more of this story one day, all three of your threads are safe in Deleted.
EDIT: * from your point of view. Your threads were moved, not deleted. The moderation log for that night is not too long, there was some clean up of rules of Misc Discussion, before the thread was finally locked.
Please welcome Johng4490 as our new Hand.
The Council decided to grant Eldership to NyghtHawk, and I want to add personal thanks for doing what's right even when you disagreed with me. Much appreciated.

{{Kaylesh}} was the last Hand of Gathering accepted into the Council of whom I knew he suffered from a bad case of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance but I did it anyway to learn how to help people like him. In order to cure people you need to learn how they work. I apologise for putting you all through this, we will add no more *s to the ranks of people holding power over other people here.
Kaylesh was the last 'liar' (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?topic=47818.75) appointed as Hand. I lost my patience to new cognitively dissonanced people joining Council. I'm happy to work with the ones who still hold grudges or cognitive dissonances. I believe that you cannot heal the world without healing yourself first, and after 40 years of trying I am a happy bunny now, I see no major structural cognitive dissonances in any of my brain's neural networks. I understand the definition of reality: https://www.quora.com/What-is-reality-3/answer/Piotr-Farbiszewski and all the steps from there to http://ultimatelaw.org
Congrats and thank you all for all your hard work and bearing with me and all my noob questions 😜
